NATO Protests Give Glimpse Into Police State

Though the NATO summit in Chicago didn’t happen until today, there was plenty of news and excitement to go around from yesterday.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, which many purport to be unnecessary in today’s world, has been a dirty word for the people of the Middle-East, Latinos, Central Americans and many other societies.

Knowing that protesters would show up in full force, the US spent millions of dollars to protect the elite for a measly few days. In times of austerity and massive cuts, it rarely makes sense to see politicians waste millions to protect an elite against a majority of protesters who are peaceful. Interesting how the world’s strongest military continues to claim that hipsters and hippies are a bigger threat than the police’s sound cannons, billy clubs, armored vehicles, tasers, guns, drones and abusive techniques.

As expected, protesters, including Occupiers and Anonymous members, showed up Saturday in a cooperative showing of solidarity to show the leaders of the world that they do not condone their militaristic and inhumane behavior anymore.

During the summit, leaders also discussed their new ballistic missile defense system that is more than likely an attempt to further intimidate Iran and frustrate Russia. It’s more than frustrating to see these politicians and elite figures from around the world express their concerns of dangerous protesters as “terrorists,” but refuse to give credence to the protesters’ concerns. Protesters are out taking a stand against corruption and the military industrial complex and what are the first things NATO members discuss? They talk about installing more weapon systems to send a message to the Iranian “terrorists.”

Somewhat positive news was gleaned from the summit though as leaders discussed the future of Western nations’ occupation of Afghanistan. As budgets around the world are becoming strained and political fallout is growing, NATO members are beginning to consider allowing the Afghan military defend their own country. It’s funny because who are we to tell someone else how to protect their own country?

It’s unreal to know that the only reason we are considering pulling out of Afghanistan is because of the world economy. Forget the facts that OBL is dead, soldiers are returning home sick, injured, uninsured, homeless and unhinged, thousands of civilians and schools are being bombed or that Afghanistan is not the real threat, but we are only considering pulling out because we just don’t have the funds. But believe me, if these governments had the money, we’d be there forever.

My Twitter feed was exploding with tweets about NATO under the hashtag #noNATO last night. I had to switch to my TweetDeck application in order to keep up with information, so most of the stuff on this post will be from Twitter.

For updates on NATO and what’s happening in Chicago follow @OccupyChicago‘s feed. In the meantime take a look at some tweets from yesterday (some photos may not appear so make sure to click the links on each tweet to see the related photos):

  • Here is a video of Luke Rudkowski of WeAreChange.org being raided by Chicago police:

Even with all of this chaos, the worst part hasn’t even been discussed. Three protesters were caught and are now being charged with attempting to firebomb Obama’s campaign headquarters as well Mayor Emmanuel’s North Side home. But the catch is that one of the protesters was an undercover cop and according to the two mens’ lawyer Michael Deutsch, the cops provided the men with the equipment. Is this another case of entrapment like we saw with the CIA and the alleged bomb plot foil on OBL’s anniversary?

It’s interesting that as the country was showing more disdain and anger towards the TSA (especially after they said an 18-month-old was a terrorist and pulled her off a flight) all of a sudden the CIA foils a bombs plot and finds a gun stuffed in a child’s stuffed animal as if to show us why we need the TSA. Right…

Some view these arrests during the NATO protests as a false flag attempt so the government can get the public on their side to pass even more freedom infringing laws on the American public and Internet rogues.

Let’s see if the American public has learned its lesson since Sept. 11. I highly doubt it.

A Note on 2012

Eye of Sauron (Yes, I'm a DORK!)

As we’ve ushered into 2012, a lot of people are suddenly seeing themselves as truthers. But they are truthers on the surface only. The fear mongers are nothing but frauds. Sadly, I don’t think a lot of people have actually grasped the movement for what it truly is. Many people want to be a part of it because it’s quaint and makes them look “alternative.” But it’s much more than that. More importantly, it’s about letting the truth find you.

The movement for truthers is not something that started overnight. And it’s not something you can just up and choose to be a part of.

The search for the truth has been something that has been happening since our creation. Every person, every culture wants to know their origin, from the moment of inception. So if you think about the truth from that perspective, you can understand that you did not choose to search for the truth, it found you.

To put this into perspective for those still confused, think about what’s been occurring at Occupy Wall Street recently. From the police brutality to the suppression of the press, these actions are anything but novel. Everyone is aware of the Rodney King beating and the killing of Oscar Grant (who was shot in the back while in handcuffs).

Grant was brutally murdered by the same Oakland police department that shot Scott Olsen in the head with an unidentified object at close range. Olsen, by the way, is doing much better after having suffered a skull fracture and brain swelling.

Overt corruption has now become a mainstay of the modern police force. No longer is it about protecting, serving and being a member of the public. The police act as soldiers for the elite—Protecting them from the righteous wrath of the masses. Again, this is nothing new.

I do want to make a quick reminder to people who I don’t think all police officers are corrupt. I think it’s important to separate the individuals as police officers from the system of law enforcement in 2012. A lot of the time, the pressures of a job can make a person do things he or she wouldn’t normally do. With that said, the blatant corruption in law enforcement is wrong and won’t be tolerated. Their manic habits are being pulled into the light.

The Internet censorship bills along with the NDAA have also caused an uproar. A much as we despise these policies, there have been a series of events leading up to this. Everything from the slow growth of the military industrial complex to dozens of proxy wars and the expansion of the executive branch under President George H.W (And this of course, is still being continued under President Obama). For whatever reason, this is the direction the country has decided to take.

The slow erosion of the rights of people and the push to treat corporations as people is also something that’s been happening for years. The fight for justice on behalf of individuals—not corporations—has also been a fight that has occurred for many years now. But now, the masses are seeing the light.

That’s what this whole movement is about. It’s about the light, the truth, that nobody can escape from. Light, like the gods many religions worship, is omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. Light is everywhere and nowhere, all-powerful and all-knowing. Light shines on the tyrant in the highest altar to the most righteous peasant, unnoticed by society.

What I hoped to get across was the notion that we need to be patient. Change takes time, but the change many people are hoping for is not the change that’s best for everyone (You’ve heard all of the doomsday and anarchy prophecies). These things take time and these things are bigger than any and all of our lives. You can’t rush these things just as you can’t rush the growth of a tree (unless you’re in California and you grow medicinal cannabis. But that is really a weed, not a tree, but they do call them ‘trees’, forget it…).

The corruption and the ego of man has always been here. We’ve just recently rediscovered the technology that allows us to transmit information at the speed of light. Within this data is a code that spells out “your time is over” to the corrupt and the vile. And if we really want to get to the root of this phenomenon, the properties of light have given us the ability to sift through the darkness and illuminate the truth so that all may have a chance to be free.

The only thing that has changed is our ability to share our light with each other. I hope more of us take advantage of the opportunities that remain ahead.

The Farming Industry: Our Last Link to Humanity

The ancients always said “everything that glitters is not always gold.” Scientists say “for every action there is an equal or greater reaction.” The spiritualists and pragmatists alike are hinting at the way the mind, body and soul interact with the universe. The spiritualists call it karma, god. Scientists call it relativity, nature. Whatever you call it, you understand that there are laws to the world we experience.

Humans have always had a hard time adjusting to these rules because well, we’ve hard a difficult time controlling our emotions and minds. It seems as though in recent history there’s been this sort of entanglement of the mind, body and soul. The separate concepts have been forgotten as individual concepts, so we don’t even really realize they exist. We only believe in what we can perceive in the third dimension, with our five senses.

It didn’t always use to be like this. There was a time when our elders and teachers taught us of the relationship between these three separate, but connected entities. The body existed in the third dimension while the spirit existed in another dimension or realm. It’s the same realm people who are psychic, have a sixth sense and savants can see and tap into. It’s the realm that you know is there because of deja vus. Or when you dream about a person or place then encounter it not long after. It’s the realm you know is there because you followed your intuition and the universe gave you abundance.

We overindulge in harmful activities like drinking, smoking, eating high amounts of animal fats and dairy products. We avoid exercise. We go to church on Sundays but ignore the other six days of the week. We do these things because human nature, the body, mind and our emotions. But these actions we partake in are not productive to nurture a healthy soul.

These issues lead to what most concerns me: farming. Farmers are the last, natural relationship we have with the foods we consume. Farmers represent our last link the humanity and the dignity we have (well a lot don’t have) for living things.

American society has been hit hard by corrupt government and corporate collusion. The masses are working harder and getting paid less, therefore our lives have become more hectic. We hardly have free time. And this isn’t just an issue with America, but it’s a worldwide epidemic.

We eat out, go to fast food and consume lots of it. We want it fast, cheap and in large quantities. The consumers drive the industry so this is what the industry has been about for so long. But people are slowly waking up to the lie. Those that adopt the fast-paced, body-degrading lifestyle of the West have been linked to high levels of cancer (linked to consumption of fat, tobacco, alcohol and sedimentary lifestyles), depression, bi-polar disorder, ADHD, OCD, dissociative identity disorder (DID), hoarding, heart complications, mental disorders, autism (linked to A1 beta-casein milk, which is most of the milk we consume) and most importantly a loss of our connection to nature.

This loss of our spiritual purpose (which can be felt when spending time in nature) has led to the loss of our minds and bodies. It’s all connected. Every human wants to reach their true potential but society makes it difficult for that to occur because most of the jobs in this civilization are not spiritually or even mentally stimulating. We’re around a lot of grunt work and mentally draining relationships we have with superiors, subordinates, spouses, children, friends, parents, politicians, officials and enemies. For whatever reason, this is the society we’ve created and it’s not for the faint of heart.

This is why I try to bring light to issues concerning the environment, our last link to any semblance of humanity and spirituality. In recent times, there’s been this all out attack on farms, nature, the mind, body & spirit and our way of living.

There is hope because consumers realize this way of living is not sustainable. We are demanding our right to interact with nature without the interfernce of governments and corporations. Companies are fighting hard against the conscious movement of Occupy and similar movements (Not the Tea Party. It is a movement, but not a conscious one). Corporations and governments are being forced to comply with our demands of organic, healthy, earth friendly and animal friendly products and services.

I’ve talked a little bit about Monsanto and how their businesses practices are ruining the lives of tens of thousands of Indian farmers. Early last year, Organic farmers have filed a lawsuit against Monsanto in a last hope attempt to save the industry of naturalist farmers.

Public Patent Foundation Director Dan Ravicher said this is an article about the farmers’ lawsuit on May 30, 2011:

It seems quite perverse that an organic farmer contaminated by transgenic seed could be accused of patent infringement. But Monsanto has made such accusations before and is notorious for having sued hundreds of farmers for patent infringement.

How is this even happening without much of a fight from Western consumers? Corporations have taken over nature and now anyone that uses the land in natural ways can be sued for patent infringement. Who’s really doing the infringement? Monsanto and their contamination of nature without proper biosafety assessments or the farmers who have been doing what they’ve been doing for thousands of years?

In Gambia, the government is threatening journalists who report on the complaints of local farmers in what they call a Gambian official’s mismanagement of public resources. On Monday, an officer not in his police attire detained local journalist Momodou Jallow. Jallow said he was detained for five hours and told he was “inciting violence.” Local journalists said he has not been charged with anything, but police told Jallow he must return to the station next Monday. Gambian National Police Spokesman Yerro Mballow said Jallow will be taken to court and charged with one count of libel, a criminal offense.

The assault on freedom of speech and our right to be with nature continues, but it seems as though no one is paying attention.
